Severe weather is affecting La Porte County, Indiana, today as thunderstorms move through the region following a powerful outbreak of storms across northwest and north-central Indiana.

The storms produced significant wind damage across the region. A powerful derecho-like line of storms moved through parts of the Midwest, with a wind gust of 99 mph recorded near Gary, Indiana.
